In the hill district, 72 miles from the capital Colombo is the City of Kandy which takes a great pride at the ‘Temple of the Tooth Relic’ also known as ‘Dalada Maligawa’ which houses the most celebrated of all Buddhist relics. Kandy also holds the location for one of Asia’s most spectacular pageants which is carried out annually in the months of July and August giving prominence to Buddhism.
