In January 2010 the Tourist Development Authority classified it as a star class hotel and its occupants have included top dignitaries and ambassadors from around the world who when in Sri Lanka have always chosen the Kandyan Reach as one of their preferred hotels. The hotel was inaugurated in 1997 beginning with 10 rooms and 2 banquet halls –today the hotel operates with 23 spacious and comfortable air-conditioned rooms and three banquet halls, one of which is a newly constructed hall aptly named The Grand Ballroom. This hall is located on the top floor of the hotel accommodating 700, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful views of Athugala and the breathtaking landscape of Kurunegala.
